100-Mile Yard Sale Descends Upon Northeastern Oklahoma

The 14th Annual Oklahoma 100-Mile Yard Sale is set for this Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 across the state. More than 25 communities are noted to be participating this year. Confirmed participating communities include Pawnee, Morrison, Glencoe, Cushing, Oak Grove, Drumright, Oilton, Stroud, Depew, Bristow, Kellyville, Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Cleveland, Hominy, Wynona, Ralston, Milfay, Perry, Mannford, Terlton, Hallett, Jennings, Yale, Maramec, and Fairfax.

Many Bristow businesses, organizations, and families will be participating and hosting special sales in conjunction with the event. Some of those Bristow entities who will offer sales include Bristow Garden Shoppe, The Bristow Stars Pathfinder Club, Bristow Route 66 Flea Market, Granny’s Emporium, Barton’s Bargains, and The Wooden Nickel. The full list of participating Bristow locations was not available at the time of writing. It was slated to be released late Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Bristow Police Department Seeks Volunteers

BPD recently shared a plea for volunteers on social media to help block traffic on Saturday, May 11, for the Wildflower 5K Run. The department requested that all interested parties contact them at 918-367-2252.

American Legion Hosts BINGO!

Saturday evening, May 4, the American Legion, Sons of the Legion, and American Legion Auxiliary will host bingo and a snack bar. The American Legion family organizations host bingo twice a month. Bingo game play and the snack bar open at 6 p.m. at the American Legion at 131 West 8th Avenue.

Inappropriate Items Left at Recycling Collection Site

Volunteers continue to plead with the public not to leave inappropriate items at the Bristow Replenysh collection site. For reference, accepted items for recycling include PETE 1 plastics, PETE 1 clamshell food containers—clear only, HDPE 2 plastics, steel and aluminum food and beverage cans, glass, and cardboard. Recycling items must be sorted into the correct bins. Unfortunately, trash, discarded furniture, motor oil, plastic bags, paper, and other nonaccepted items have been left at the site recently. Those items are not accepted or recyclable through Bristow’s program. As such, recyclers are directed to properly dispose of those items.

Tabouleh Festival/Wildflower Run

Bristow’s annual Tabouleh Fest, wine tasting, and Wildflower Run are set to begin Saturday, May 11, at 8 a.m. The 5K run/walk begins at 8 o’clock with the Tabouleh Fest to follow at 10 a.m. along Main Street.

Band Concert Held

Bristow Public Schools’ Spring Band Concert was held last Sunday, April 28, at 2:30 p.m. on stage at the Freeland Center for the Performing Arts. All band students participated in the concert with students of all ability levels and ages showcasing their skills and talents to the delight of family and friends.

Bristow Girls Soccer Advanced to OSSAA State Championship

Tuesday evening, April 30, at 7 p.m., at Hafer Field, Bristow girls’ soccer hosted Mount St. Mary for their first game in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association’s 2024 Class 3A Girls’ Soccer State Championship. The game had not yet been played at the time of print, but the winner proceeded to the next game of the championship bracket on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. The winner played either Summit Christian or Locust Grove. The Championship game is set to be played Friday and Saturday, May 10-11.
