Even though arctic weather and snow had hit the community, a chili cook off was held Saturday by the 7th Day Advent Church. It wasn't only for church members but just a way for the entire community to be involved and enjoy some chili. The Bristow Band was there entertaining the attendees with there talents in music. The band also judged the various chilis on which one they liked best and the votes were counted at the end of the contest.
There were all types of chili in the contest. There was vegetarian, vegan vegetarian ,hamburger chili, hot and spicy chili.
Those entries included April Spooner with her not spicy vegetarian, Marilyn Ailey entering her vegetarian, not spicy, Laura Weber with vegetarian and also her vegan chili, non-spicy for both, Glen Shout with his hamburger spicy chili, Ve Hammond with a hamburger non-spicy chili, Addison Perez with vegetarian lentil chili, Judd Johns with his meat chili medium spicy, Debbie Fisher with a mild vegan, Peggy Scruggs entering hamburger meat medium spicy flavor, Lowell Jenks with a medium spicy vegan chili, Jennifer Metlock with a mild beef flavor and Lisa East with a mild veggie flavor chili. Whether you like it hot, medium or mild, so many great flavors to sample. Desserts included bread pudding, cookies, chocolate vegetarian cake, called funny cake, triple berry trifle, and almond joy cake, and more.
Donations were taken but instead of the winner getting the prize, they gathered all the donations and donated them to the winners pick of charities. First and second places winners were Laura Weber with her medium spicy veggie chili and Jennifer Medlock with her mild beef chili.
